drivers and woods

We will start with a chat to find out the current problem and what is it that you are trying to improve on. It may be any of Distance, Accuracy, Trajectory, Consistency or Feel. We will take some static measurements of both your existing club and you, e.g. the length, loft, swing weight, total weight, measure the flex and the grip size, and your Wrist to Floor measurement and height. The next step will be dynamic fit. Using Club Connex, we have more than 3000 combination of heads, flex, length and weight combination to fit you with. We will look out for the following:

- Fit for best length. We use impact tape and various length test clubs to observe swing speed and center contact. The length with the most centre contact is the best length for you.

- Fit for best launch angle. We use OptimalFlight to run a couple of simulation to find the best launch angle with an acceptable spin. Knowing the best vertical launch, we will then check your angle of attack and the dynamic loft to advice the best driver loft to suit you.

- Fit for best shaft. We capture your average swing speed, tempo and a high speed video to watch for your release. With these 3 parameters together with weight preference, we match your swing characteristic against our database of more than 600 over shafts' profiles from various shaft manufacturers. These will ensure the best fit regardless of brands or shafts that is available in our centre.

- Fit for best path. Next we’ll see the typical path exhibited. E.g. In to out or out to in. If necessary, we will change the total weight of the club to help influence the path to what you are hoping for.

- Fit for face angle. Direction is 80% influenced by the face angle at impact. To fit for this, we will adjust the head weight by using lead tape (or removable weights on the driver, to help slow down or speed up the closing of the head.

After all the checks and in consultation with you, we will build a pilot club for you to test drive. This will usually be atleast one week later. During the pilot test, we can further fine-tune the club like adjusting swing weight, balance points and grip size and also comparing your new statistic with the old driver.

Irons fitting are typically done over 3-4 sessions. So be prepared that it will take up to a month to have a set of irons customised.

Like any fitting, we will start with a chat to find out the current problem and what is it that you are trying to improve on. It may be any of Distance, Accuracy, Trajectory, Consistency or Feel. We will take some static measurements of both your existing club and you, e.g. the length, loft, swing weight, total weight, measure the flex and the grip size, and your Wrist to Floor measurement and height. The next step will be dynamic fit. Using Club Connex, we have more than 600 combination of heads, flex, length and weight combination to fit you with. We will look out for the following:

- Fit for best length. We use impact tape and various length test clubs to observe swing speed and center contact. The length with the most centre contact is the best length for you. An alternative is the True Length Technology. You can read about it here.

- Fit for best path. Next we’ll see the typical path exhibited. E.g. In to out or out to in. Using shaft of different weight and length, we will be able to assess the idea weight of the shaft to help influence the path to what you are hoping for.

- Fit for face angle. Direction is 80% influenced by the face angle at impact. To fit for this, we will adjust the head weight by using lead tape to help slow down or speed up the closing of the head. (more on this will be done in the second session)

- Fit for best shaft. We capture your average swing speed, a high speed video to watch for your release and note your vertical launch angle to recommend the best matched shaft for your swing.

After all the checks and in consultation with you, we will build a pilot club for you to test drive. This will usually be a 7 iron and atleast one week later. During the pilot test, we can further fine-tune the club like adjusting swing weight, balance points and grip size and also comparing your new statistic with the old driver. You are free to bring this pilot club out to hit it on the range or even bring it to your next game. When everythings are in order, the rest of the set will be build to the exact specifications. E.g. Frequency matched, MOI/SW matched or spined, if desired. If you get a complete set of irons from us, we will include a gapping service to adjust your loft, say, after 3-4 weeks when you have pretty much got familiar with the new clubs.

* If you are only changing the shafts, we will only include adjustment of lie angle subject to the bendability of your existing irons.

wedges

We will start with a chat to find out your current iron (eg loft and flex) and what is it regarding wedges that you are trying to improve on. During the session, we record multiple shots with each of your current wedges, similar to an iron fitting. However, here we’re focusing on shot dispersion, distance (gaps between wedges) and back/side spin rate. Once we’ve collected this, we can visually see if you have obvious gaps, whether or not you’re getting too much or not enough spin, and also determine if your shafts are contributing to erratic shot dispersion. From here we can make a recommendation to add gap wedges, or simply increase / decrease the lofts in your current set. Further hitting will be done in different lie, rough, fairway and bunker conditions. This will allow you to test and try out the different bounce and grind options that best suit your swing type. The 5 steps process is as follows:

Step 1- Fit for shaft type and flex. Golfers should play wedges that provide a “seamless” transition from their short irons with regards to shaft weight. For example, if you are playing standard weight steel shafts in your irons, we will recommend the KBS a wedge shaft that is also in that range.

Step 2 - Fit for length. Again, there should be connection with your existing iron set. The wedges should typically progress at ¼” increments down to the highest lofted wedge the golfer is going to carry.

Step 3 - Determine Lie Angle. This is a function of length and posture. We will get you to hit, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full swing shot for the wedges to determine if a particular lie is suitable.

Step 4 - Fit for loft (set make-up). The goal is to give you consistent full swing distance gaps of 10-15 yards between their scoring clubs – 8-iron down through the highest lofted wedge to carry.

Step 5 - Fit for bounce, sole width and camber (grind). The last step is to fit you to the correct bounce and grind for your swing and the course condition that you play. We will re-create of the trouble shots that you are likely to encounter and then find a grind/bounce that will help alleviate the trouble.

Step 1 - Assessment
The first step is to assess a golfer’s aim. The golfer aims at a small laser projector that looks similar to an actual golf hole. When the ball is removed, the laser beam reflects off a mirrored putter face, then the reflected beam projects onto a black screen positioned vertically behind the projector, showing the difference between the golfer’s aim and the actual target.

Step 2 - Personalization
After the golfer’s aim is determined, the second step is to find the right fit, which the fitter has at their side a unique system of up to 273 million component combinations made up of various putter heads, hosels, offsets, lie angles to find the combination that corrects for the golfer’s natural aim.

Option 2 - SAM PuttLab Putter Fitting process

Baseline assessment
The fitting session starts with basic assessment of your existing putter specifications and your preference. This information is entered into the system and might be used during the fitting process, i.e. if a specific aspect is unclear to be decided.

Step 1 - Basic fitting
You will roll 7 putts with your existing putter. SAM Puttlab will examine your aim, path, face on path, rotation and dynamic to recommend the type of grip, head design, shaft configuration. Specifications like length, loft and lie will also be recommended. The loft and lie of your existing putter will be modified as recommended before we proceed to step 2 - dynamic fitting.

Step 2 - Dynamic fitting
You will roll 7 putts with the fitted putter. SAM Puttlab will examine your dynamic loft, dynamic lie, rise angle, path, spot, face and rotation. The result will be verified against the result from step 1, if necessary, your putter will be adjusted further to produced the desired result.

Step 3 - Extended fitting
In extended fitting, you will first roll 5 putts with the fitted putter to determine evaluate tendencies. SAM Puttlab will examine your rotation, hit/swing stroke and rhythm. A recommendation will be made on the head weight and shaft weight. The result will be verified against the result from step 1 and 2 , if necessary, your putter will be adjusted further to produced the desired result.

At the end of the session, all fitting reports with the putter specifications will be sent to you electronically.
