About HooGolf

Before venturing into clubfitting business, Clement Cheong worked in media and publishing corparate world for 21 years based in Singapore, Malaysia and China. He was in the top management of some famous companies such as Global Sources, DoubleClick, Harvard Business Review and Shanghai Daily Press.

His interest in golf started 5 years ago when he accompanied his elder son to the weekly golf lessons in Shanghai. Being a short person himself, he found that it was not easy, if not impossible to find golf clubs off the shelf match to his physical and swing characteristics. He started to research on the internet and even assembled his first custom set of golf clubs from the components and parts bought through mail order from the US. He had a small workshop and hitting net converted from a big room in his Shanghai apartment. He did some repairs and fit clubs for family members and close friends as personal hobby.

His passion for serious clubfitting really took off when he enrolled himself in Mitchell Golf Equipment Institute in the US and earned him the "Master Club Performance Specialist" in 2009. He decided to quit his corporate job and opened his clubfitting shop in a driving range in Shanghai. After 14 years living in Beijing and Shanghai, he got a bit of homesick, so he decided to return to his hometown in Ipoh, the peaceful and the birthplace of white coffee and bean sprout chicken, for sort of semi-retire and pursue on his passion - professional clubftting.

His search for a perfect place to do clubfitting was over when he spoke to the CEO of Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, Mr Kenny Yap. With his blessing and support, he established his HooGolf Performance Centre at the driving range of this magnificent awards winning golf resort. This centre is equipped with the doppler radar Flightscope Kudu launch monitor for a complete outdoor fitting. It offers the same high standard of clubfitting process and practice as one would enjoy at Wiz Golf Performance Centre.
